Reaping Me Softly
By Michelle@Book Briefs
I have read a few reaper books this past year, and I have to say that I really enjoyed Kate Evangelista's take on them. She divided them up geographically (which makes a lot of sense), she gave them each their own little universe, and I loved the reaper meetings. Reaping Me Softly is imaginative and romantic. And boy, oh boy does it end with a bang.

I love so many things about Niko. I love how formal he is, it is absolutely adorable. I also love how new to love he is. He is just a really cool combination of fierce, loyal, and shy in his own way. I really enjoyed learning more about him, and I also really liked that we got to see how the other reapers saw him. I thought that was a great addition to the story. I love the idea behind Niko's house. I thought it was awesome and I loved the detail and description.

I liked Ari too. She has a very unique set of problems and issues, and I think she handles them marvelously. I know they talk about how she wasn't always good about handling her pain and sorrows, but I didn't see any shadow of that mentioned girl. All I saw was strength. I admired that about her. She put so much faith and trust in herself and in Niko.

Reaping Me Softly has made me bump reapers up on my paranormal scale. I am really intrigued by them. Plus Kate Evangelista is an excellent writer and I love the detail she uses in describing the surroundings. I always had a clear picture of the scenes in my head while I was reading. The only thing I didn't love about Reaping Me Softly was the ending. I certainly didn't see it coming, that's for sure! It just seemed a little out of place to me, but then again maybe I am just sad because I didn't want it to happen. But I am super excited for the second book in the Reaping me Softly series.

Really Awesome Read

Let me just start out by saying that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cover. It's so pretty~ And I'm so glad that I bought a paperback copy even though it was so expensive. I must admit that I was afraid to spend so much on a book/write I didn't know much about. But I couldn't help myself.

When I started reading the book, I was thinking "Oh my gosh. I feel like I won't like this. I wasted my money." But I was WRONG. This book got better and better when I continued reading it, and I ended up loving it, as can be seen by the full rating~ I'm even happier that I got a signed copy.

I like the whole concept of Death and the Reapers of the USA. I find it interesting how there is one Reaper for each state of America, and each one is ranked based on the death tolls in each state. I like how Death was humanized in showing emotions and thoughts, and the Reapers are his children who he really cares about. I also like the different take on mortality for the Reapers. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil it, but I think that the ideas in this book are just brilliant. Oh, and I like how the Reapers always have to wear black, gray or white because of how death is, and how each scythe has its own design.

The story is told in the third person point of view, which I think is perfect for this story to be able to capture all of the different characters involved. However, the focus remains on Arianne and Nikolas. Arianne has had a big crush on Niko for the longest time, and when their paths finally cross, well, a lot of things happen. I love Niko's character because of how he's always well-dressed and eloquent. He's the silent and brooding type that actually has more character in him that shows when he's with the people he really cares about. Arianne has a special ability that easily connects her with Niko, and I guess the attraction between them is just natural. Ben, Arianne's best friend, was also a really great character. And I just loved him more and more as I got to know him.

OVERALL, this book was simply wonderful and amazing to read. There are a lot of unique ideas in it, and a lot of surprises that made me internally freak out. And I loved it. I just loved it. Yes, there is so much to love about this book - the story, the characters, the plot twists, the development. Death and the Reapers of the USA are a very interesting bunch, and I would love to read more about them. Arianne is definitely an interesting character. I'd love to see where this goes so I'm quite excited to get my hands on book 2. I would definitely recommend this book and I hope people will be able to see how awesome Reaping Me Softly really is.

Unexpected
By His Girl
Wow! I read this whole book in one night! I just captured me from the beginning. The characters were strong, the plot had me captured, and I could visualize every detail in this book. I loved it so much.

Ari and Niko are the main characters. Their love is so strong and although it is that I feel in love with her/him instantly love, it was amazing. Normally, I complain when the love in a story has no background and comes out of nowhere so I was shocked that it didn't feel like that here. It's great to here from both sides of the story. Niko's life is complicated and you feel for him and the life he lives, he has to keep it in such a perfect balance. Ari is strong and it's a nice relief to read about a strong female character plus she has a sarcastic side to her. Ben is another character within the book that I loved, he had such a strong friendship to Ari. Great friend, no questions asked, right by her side.

BTW, not only do you read from Ari and Niko's side, you'll get another character in there to read about. So will the second book involve him more?
