Great for Beginners

Buyer beware--if you are looking for an ASL book, do not get this one. However, I think this is an absolutely perfect first book for hearing people who desire an introduction to sign language. Of course, it shouldn't be the only reference used, but it is a wonderful place to start. It was my very first sign language book that I requested as a whim for a Christmas present, and thus absolutely fell in love with sign language.
The reason I say it's great for hearing people is because the signs are very English-based, so it might be easier for hearing people to pick up than total immersion into ASL. I absolutely believe it is a great place to start for those who wish to learn ASL later on. The book has some of the best pictures (tho there are a few that are pretty ambiguous), great explanations of hand movements, and wonderful hints to remember each sign.

Overbearing mother, a narcissistic sister and an absentee father

Oh holiday romances, the bane of an over-active imagination, too much sun, alcohol and lack of judgement. I can understand how Marianne mistakenly thinks her holiday hot stuff will work in her home setting, because she is simply deluded and blinded by the romantic memories she clings to.
Hot stuff turns out to be all fluffy flab with the attitude of a squatter. Unfortunately he comes to stay and much like a bad smell, he lingers in the background throughout the entire dramatic story.
This story is about leaving the mistakes of the past behind and forgiveness. It is also about believing in yourself and having the courage to take a step towards new ventures.
Marianne lives within the huge shadow of her beautiful sister Hayley, despite a lack of musical talent their mother thinks Hayley is the next star upon the horizon. Marianne has gotten used to being the plan one, the boring one, the one who is expected to play it safe.
All that changes when her father turns up out of the blue, after many years of being absent. Having to deal with his terminal illness and the lies her mother constructed around his disappearance, is the last drop of water in an already overfilled barrel. Things start to unravel and certain family relationships are in danger of being destroyed forever.

GREAT READ!!!!!

Great read! I loved this book as well as her others. I don't know why some people wouldn't like this book because of "grammar" run on sentences etc. Yes because THAT'S why I read the books because of grammar(sarcasm) incase in was hard to miss! I could completely keep up with the characters. I had no problem at all. Love scence's weren't clumsy but just as hot as all her other love scenes. Let me tell you if you had a problem with those scenes because of grammar you have more problems than not liking a book! Thanks for another great read!!!!!!!

Brody by Joyee Flynn is the eighth book in the Resistant Omegas series.

Brody was sold to the dire wolf pack at the age of six and he was the first of fifteen Omegas who were held there until they were freed by the members of the Omega Network. Omegas had been sold to the highest bidder and used to give their inner circle power without anyone to help them until the Omega Network was set up. Brody had his omega powers activated as a child when his alpha sexually abused him. He did everything he could to protect the younger children, even if that meant taking their place in the alphas bed.

Tristan, an omega, is captured by the Wolf Council for questioning and the Omegas fear that the past may be repeating itself. Hundreds of years ago, Omegas were killed by their inner circles because they were frightened of the powers they were gaining. Wesley, the strongest Omega, goes to Lord Ellys, an ancient vampire, to go to the council to testify about the atrocities committed against the Omegas, since he had been alive at the time. As Wesley and the Omegas start the task of assessing the council members to ensure they were the correct individuals to be there, Brody's powers begin to spiral out of control. Brody meets Leif and Asher, two Beta candidates, and immediately feels connected to them. While struggling with his feelings for them, Jaxon, an alpha, arrives to be tested and instantly falls for Brody. Now Brody has the inner circle he never wanted, but desperately needs to ground his abilities. Can Brody overcome the trauma he endured and look towards a better and brighter future?

I was taken by surprise by the way this book started. I knew that this confrontation would occur at some time, but the way it unfolded took my breath away. It was horrifying the way the Omegas and the Vampires were almost exterminated hundreds of years ago, but Lord Ellys' willingness to assist them in anyway showed that it was time to set the record straight. As Brody's past was revealed, it was easy to understand his hesitancy to trust Leif, Asher and Jaxon. It was sad how he felt that he was to blame for the abuse the other children with him took, when in reality he shielded them as much as he could, figuring he wasn't much older than they were at the time. As the powers of the Omegas increase, it was easy to understand why others would be afraid, except that all they wanted was to live in peace with their mates. Someone brought up the point that maybe there was something or someone that forced the inner circles to kill their Omegas hundreds of years ago, but no one knows. That is one question to the many secrets about the Omegas that has yet to be revealed.

Why do I keep reading these?

It's not a novel, it's a wordy short story. Characters are cardboard cutouts with almost nothing to identify them from one another. The sex is clumsy and formulaic, the plot half-baffling and half-boring, the dialogue wooden and stilted. Maybe the author has to write a certain number of these to fulfil a contract? Regardless, this took me all of 40 minutes to read, and I'm annoyed I devoted even that much time to this mess.
And I even LIKE gay werewolf porn, too.

Not New Hymn 1985 Book

This reviews the old hymn book....not the most recent edition. Didn't know that. Having to find out what page the hymn is on in the new book. Great stories. Newer books which do use the 1985 hymn book often quote this book....that's why I got one for myself. Frustrating not to just know where the song is....but worth the hunt.
