Written from a senior's perspective

Interesting read. Much better as a supplemental book than something that completely guides you when trying to plan your retirement. Keep in mind that this book is targeted towards seniors 55 and above. I am a 20 years old and studying towards a finance undergraduate degree. As I was reading this, I became very disagreeable with some of his statements. However, it more sense as I thought from a senior's perspective. For example, under topics such as inflation which he deems completely horrible, I automatically thought he was mistaken because inflation is necessary for an economy to grow. However, that is the thinking of a 20 year old. For seniors, inflation is never good. As purchasing power decrease, the payments from social security will remain the same at best. Therefore, for seniors, they would rather see deflation than inflation.

After the 2008 financial crisis, as seniors we are wary of the financial markets. Fear comes from lack of understanding of the unknown, However, with this book I am able to gain more understanding of the dos and don'ts of retirement investments. This book targets those of us who are scared to re-enter the market, especially those of us who suffered significant loses during the recent crisis. I believe that the analysis in this book could keep people from making some very expensive mistakes.
